Candy Ma - SE London

I originally trained in classical singing at XingHai Conservatoire of Music in China, where I graduated with a first class BA(Hons) in Music Performance (singing). I have also studied at Central School of Speech and Drama in London, where I received a MA with distinction in Music Theatre. Amongst my musical theatre credits, I have performed in Avenue Q in the West End (Noël Coward and Gielgud theatres) and A Chorus Line at the Lowry theatre in Manchester. During my pop singing career, I have performed in concerts and TV shows internationally and established a pop group in China which won Best Professional Group and the Pepsi New Star Prize at the 2002 Guangdong Pepsi Music Festival. I have also done screen/voice over work for clients including BBC, Dell and Pearson Education.

Through my performing career, I have developed significant experience in many singing styles, including Musical Theatre, Pop/Rock, Classical and Jazz. I also have a great passion for teaching and have taught privately since 2001. I believe that working on vocal technique is the key foundation, but there are also other areas to develop which can help students become more rounded singers and performers. This includes helping students to find their own unique voice and their own interpretation of each song, as well as developing their stage presence, audition technique and performing stamina.

I truly enjoy building strong working relationships with students and find it immensely rewarding to see them learn, develop and succeed. No matter whether you are a beginner or an experienced singer, I will tailor my methods to suit your needs. Singing is a great enjoyment!
