Carolina Garcia-Cox - Bolton, Greater Manchester

My name is Carolina and I am a Singer & Vocal Tutor based in Bolton, Greater Manchester and my whole life revolves around music and theatre. I am currently starting out my career as a professional singer, however, I have been singing and performing in the amateur world for many years. I started my career as a singing teacher in 2011 as a freelance tutor doing 1-2-1 private tuition. Nowadays I also teach at Booths Music in Bolton, Orr Academy of Theatre and Dance in Farnworth, and various secondary schools as part of Blackburn with Darwen Music Service.

My passion for music started at the age of 9 learning to play the piano, and later on I started singing, though it wasn't until the age of 14 that I first had the courage to sing solo. After amazing feedback from my first solo performance, I started to build my confidence and passion for singing and ever since I have been regularly having lessons, taking part in shows and musicals, doing singing exams, etc. In 2005 I passed my grade 8 singing exam, and I am currently preparing to do the ABRSM Diploma in Singing.

For the past 10 years I have been involved in many amateur Musical Theatre productions, playing a wide range of lead and supporting roles and chorus roles, in many different types of shows; the most recent parts I have played include: 'Eve/Mama Noah' in 'Children of Eden' and 'Hope Harcourt' in 'Anything Goes'.

However, I have always had a growing passion for all styles of music and over the years I have trained in classical, pop, jazz, soul, musical theatre, and anything and everything that takes my fancy. During my years at university I was part of a brilliant gospel group in which I developed a lot of harmony work, singing acapella and a great passion and feel for gospel music.

My purpose is to work on strengthening vocal technique, through the use of vocal exercises, and on building the students repertoire, their knowledge of music and work on their presentation and performance skills. I want to share what I have learnt from my experience as a singer and performer over the last 10 years. I try my best to make my lessons fun and relaxed, and my main goal is to cater each lesson for each students individual needs. I like my students to tell me what style of music they want to concentrate on and what they like to sing and take it from there!
