'As a practicing performer myself, I am fully aware of the great variety of singers needs. Students may be experienced and in need of an experienced ear for a few lessons before an audition or performance, while others may be starting out and in need of real understanding of vocal technique, and its physical demands. I take on board students strengths and weakness and develop them, offering a well connected range and technique. I use several techniques when teaching, including speech level technique, a natural way of training voices to allow singers, to perform freely, and clearly throughout their range, with a balanced tone, with no gaps or breaks. I like to use the piano within lessons, to aid teaching including exercises incorporating melody, harmony, and the rhythm of the piece. Practice is of course key to learning and I require students to spend time singing their scales, breathing exercises, etc at home.'
