Kirsty Calo - Luton, Bedfordshire

"I'm Kirsty Louise Calo, originally from St. Albans I now live in Luton with my husband. I am 30 year old professional singer with a zest and passion for anything to do with music. Influenced by my parents' extensive record collection from an early age, I grew up memorising and belting out (with the hairbrush, of course) the classic Motown, Soul and Pop classics, which now form the basis of my performance repertoire.

 

However, it was only when I reached my late teens that I began to recognise that I could hold a tune and with lots of practise, I built up the confidence to try my talents in local karaoke competitions. After winning on several occasions and receiving lots of encouragement I took my love of singing to the next level; by joining up with local theatre groups, bands and duos, and now, at last a solo singer in my own right, performing for people and making their special occasions and events as memorable as I possible can.

 

I have always had a huge fondness for performing arts and studied GCSE Drama and A-Level Theatre Studies in Sixth Form. This equipped me with a number of skills at both practical and theoretical levels, which I believe have proven invaluable to me in my career as a singer, not only with preparing myself for stage performances in front of crowds of people, but also in building the confidence that I needed to continue to believe in my self and my own abilities.

 

In my lessons I will look to harness the expertise and experience that I have gained over the last 15 years to inspire, coach and support my students, so that they too can expand their vocal skills and fulfil any goals that they may wish to accomplish .In theory, in practise, but essentially in a comfortably calm environment and an encouragingly enjoyable manner! "
