Lisa George - Stanningley, Leeds and Grimsby, NE Lincs Lisa began singing at the age of 9 in her church choir. It wasn't until Lisa went to senior school that her vocal talents were noticed and she appeared in the musicals. At 16 Lisa started her first singing lessons gaining experience in musical festivals, and winning 1st place in many of the competitions. At 18 she auditioned for a prestigious singing show in London and sang at the Sadlers Wells theatre.At 19 Lisa left school and became a member of the entertainment team as a singer for Warner holidays. After leaving Warner Holidays Lisa worked with the National Youth Theatre, before going on to read theatre studies at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, where she won the singing scholarship for three years running. Since graduating in 1995 Lisa has toured with Lily Savage in the No.1 UK Tour of “Prisoner Cell Block H-The Musical”, appeared in the Dusty Springfield tribute show “I only want to be with you”,worked alongside Jimmy Cricket , Linda Nolan and Paul Crone in “Cinderella”, worked with M6 Theatre Company in “Daydream Believer”, appeared in “Life on Mars” at the Riverside Studios, London, toured as Tammy Wynette in “The Queens of Country”, played Pauline Cain in The Torch Theatre’s Production of “One For the Road” and produced, directed and appeared in “An Evening with Kander and Ebb”.Lisa has also appeared as Fairy Bowbells in “Dick Whittington” and Petunia Pumpkin/ Fairy Godmother and Dandini in seperate productions of “Cinderella”. Television roles include guest appearances in: Emmerdale, Holby City, Casualty, City Central, Cops, Roger Roger, My Summer with Des, Coronation Street, Olivers Travels, Manhunt, Children’s Ward and Holding the Baby. Commercials include Ebay, Learn Direct, Woolworths training video, Safeguarging Children for Wigan Council, Claims direct and White LIghtening Cider. Lisa has appeared in 3 short films, the latest "Boy" by Picture Palace North which is currently being screened in the 2009 Film Festivals and also recorded "Pick Ups" the BBC Radio 4 drama starring John Thompson and Sally Lindsay. Lisa appeared alongside Michelle Collins in the premier screening of the B.A.F.T.A. nominated television adaptation of Jacqueline Wilson’s “The Illustrated Mum”, playing the role of Miss Hill. Lisa appeared in 5 episodes of “Coronation Street” and the controversial singing KFC Commercial, now made infamous for the most complaints ever received!! A chance meeting with a friend in London lead to Lisa recording backing vocals with The Stranglers on their “Coup de Grace” album and a demo song for a producer in Nashville. In 2001 Lisa toured with a 13-piece Soul band “The Rumble Band” for 4 years before jumping ship and joining the mighty rockin' big band orchestra, The Cat Pack and recorded on their 2005 album “It Aint What you Do”. With the Cat Pack she supported Little Richard and Chuck Berry in the summer of 2005. Following this Lisa went onto performing with the Jump jive Sheffield band ”The Big Heat” for 2 years and played infront of 4,000 people at the Summer Jamboree festival in Senigallia, Italy. It was during this time that Lisa came to the attention of Raucous Records who asked Lisa to record a solo album with her new band Lisa George and The Pedalos. www.lgpedalos.co.uk The album “The Devil Said Shake” was released in the summer of 2008 and has received favourable reviews. In 2007 and 2008 Lisa toured as a backing singer with Joe Longthorne and continues to do so. Most recently Lisa has been asked to support the up and coming swing singer Peter Grant who is now touring this year. Please go to his website for dates. As well as gigging with her own band "Lisa George and the Pedalos" Lisa is also a member of "The Pink Cadillettes" - a 60's 3 part harmony group. Lisa is currently judging on the Live and Unsigned competition.
