I am a professional opera singer and singing teacher. I have been teaching privately since 2008 and have taught singing to secondary school children and music in a children’s summer school. My music education includes York University, Royal Conservatory, 9 years in 2 opera studios, secondary school of the arts and several opera teachers and coaches from whom I’ve taken the best methods of practice. I have performed opera for various opera companies, opera gala concerts and corporate events for royalty and celebrities for 10 years now since moving to London from Toronto.

Some of the skills taught in my lessons that are adaptable to all styles and levels of singing are relaxing the body through proper body alignment to allow deep breathing and to relieve muscle tension for an unrestricted natural sound. These are acquired through fun, progressive vocal exercises that are adapted to any repertoire of the student’s choice. This could include opera, musical theatre, art songs in Italian, French, German or English and popular music too.Iunderstand that singing in a new language is a challenge but I can coach the student on diction so confidence is gained quickly.

I also want to include in my teaching the art of performing which includes a broad spectrum of disciplines like focusing, character study, visualization and stress management. Singing is primarily drama set to music. This practice of acting and story telling allows the singer to focus and communicate to an audience promoting relaxation which in turn frees the body to sing naturally.

Whether the student is preparing for a singing exam, audition or just wants to sing better in the shower I can help with vocal technique, ear training, sight singing and characterization in a relaxed, fun and encouraging environment.
