Naomi Di Cillo - Reading, Berkshire Naomi
Di Cillo, born in London in 1983, is a singer/actor and vocal coach from
Reading who regularly gigs around the South of England in the Pink Floyd and
Doors Tribute Band ‘Floydian Doors’. A passionate
singer from the age of six, Naomi grew up with an evident and deep desire to
perform. Throughout her education singing was an integral part of life and she
quickly developed an appetite for musical theatre, playing lead roles in
Primary and Secondary school productions. At the age of 17 this fascination intensified
and she auditioned for an Amateur Dramatics Society with whom she performed at
The Hexagon Theatre Reading in musicals such as Half a Sixpence, Evita, Pirates
of Penzance, Guys n Dolls and Calamity Jane. In 2001
Naomi gained Foundation Training in Acting and Musical Theatre at Reading
Theatre College (now Read Dance and Theatre College) and furthered her study in
all Musical Theatre Disciplines. It was here that she was coached in singing
and acting by working professionals Juliette Caton (certified master teacher in
the ‘Estill Voice Training System and founder of SOTA) and Mathew Whitelock (actor
and founder of Berzerk Productions). On completion of her course Naomi received
L.A.M.D.A. Grade 8 with honours. In 2007
Naomi had a desire to continue her studies in Performing Arts and was offered a
place on a Higher National Diploma course at Thames Valley University. Here, she perfected her vocal technique and
style with the help of Charles Spicer (National Theatre, Royal Shakespeare Company).
Naomi took to the stage in April 2008 taking a lead role in Courttia Newland‘s ‘B Is for Black’ which showcased at
Southstreet Art’s Centre Reading. Today
Naomi works at a Secondary School in Reading and combines her passion for
performing with a desire to work with young people. In March 2010 Naomi founded and directed a ‘Glee style’ vocal group, where she taught the basics of
vocal technique, arranged vocal parts, choreographed and mentored her students.
She is currently a
vocal/acting coach for the school’s summer musical ‘We Will Rock You’, due to
showcase in July. Naomi
uses her vivacious character to encourage confidence and deliver fun
informative sessions, whilst embedding practice of good vocal health and
performance discipline. Naomi has a full CRB disclosure, Public Liability Insurance and is a member of the Musicians
Union. Lessons
can be delivered either at home or at Play Studio’s Milford Road Reading RG1 8LG Lesson
