Tom Guest - Chorlton, Manchester Tom originally hails from Hertfordshire, and is a classically trained singer. He studied Music at the University of Manchester, majoring in Voice and Piano, and trained with Diane Mathews. He has since worked extensively as an actor and singer with local and international companies and at prestigious venues up and down the country. Musical Theatre credits include the international tour of I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change!, Sweet Charity at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, and Assassins at the Palace Theatre Manchester. He can currently be seen playing Bob Gaudio in the UK tour of Big Girls Don’t Cry, a tribute to Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. Tom has also gained much teaching experience since graduating, both privately and in schools and universities. Over the last five years, he has taught in many institutions with all ages, such as Stagecoach and Boost Performing Arts Academy in Hertfordshire. He also facilitated the Musical Theatre course at City College in Manchester, as singing tutor, vocal coach and musical director for many productions, including Blood Brothers, Chicago and Guys and Dolls. Tom’s lessons are for all abilities, from beginner to advanced. For beginners the focus is on introducing good singing technique and developing support, and also boosting confidence. For singers who are looking to reinforce their technique, Tom explores communication, story-telling and acting through song, extending repertoire and audition technique. Tom is happy to teach any style, from pop and rock to musical theatre and jazz, and classical singing. He is really just interested in finding each individual pupil's true voice, and letting you enjoy it!
Testimonials Tom is an amazing teacher and he taught me to put strength into my voice and vary the dynamics. He got me through my grade 4 even though I was finding it really hard. He always listened to me and asks what I wanted to do in our lessons. He always warms you up until you feel ready to sing and his warm ups are pretty fun too! He also gives you the most amazing songs to sing from musicals not just normal songs. He always has a smile and is really nice when you can't do something, he simply says 'you can' and soon enough you are singing the notes like second nature. I will miss Tom so much when he is gone, he has brought on my singing so much. I don't know if I will be able to find anyone as good again! Thanks Tom, From Madeleine Taylor Tom is a FANTASTIC teacher. He makes everything so clear and easy to understand. With simple imagery, descriptions and examples he was able to demonstrate very clearly how to do things and the improvements were instantaneous. He was so much fun as well. He made me laugh every lesson without fail and we still managed to get all the work done. He provided a wide variety of solos and duets for me to sing. He knew exactly what kind of songs would suit my voice. As the lessons progressed the songs became more challenging but he filled me with confidence by assuring me that I would be able to do it. I have certainly felt the difference in my voice and my singing ability after just a few months. Thanks Tom, every lesson was great and so much fun :) x Emma Fredskild Grenn Just to let you know that the triangle sing up project session one today at St Hugh’s was fab. Tom was great.
