Christine Evans

Location: Atherstone

Christine developed a passion for singing at an early age and, as a result, her life has always revolved around the music scene. She has performed as an acoustic solo artist for many years and has previously provided support for bands such as The Cranberries. She has also been both lead and backing singer for a number of high profile bands over the years, singing covers as well as her own material.

Following attendance of several vocal coaching sessions herself, Christine decided to take her love of singing further and completed her Certificate in Contemporary Vocal Coaching with the Vocalist International Distance Learning Association (VIDLA). She then progressed her studies further to complete her Professional Diploma in Contemporary Vocal Coaching and is constantly researching available vocal methods to further her studies and to incorporate into her own teaching methods.

Having experience in a variety of music genres, Christine is able to provide tuition in all contemporary styles of singing. She is committed to providing high standards of teaching in a relaxing environment, and aims to build up a good rapport with every student by ensuring that she is patient and encouraging throughout. Christine uses a holistic approach to teaching which is tailored to each individual, and her passion for singing enables her to work with each singer to get the best of out their voice. Her lessons include the basics of posture, breathing, support, range and resonance; right through to the development of the 'mix' register, how to negotiate the 'breaks', sight reading, improvisation, harmonising, music theory, vocal health, audition techniques and overcoming performance anxiety.

In addition to teaching one to one studio lessons, holding group workshops and her work with two local choirs, Christine is also a personal tutor for VIDLA as well as a judge and Regional Educational Partner for the national Open Mic and Live & Unsigned competitions.

Christine is a professionally trained guitarist and has coupled this with her love of singing to become an accomplished songwriter, with a particular focus on harmonies. As such, she has achieved semi-finalist status with a number of her songs in the UK Song Writing Competition, which in turn, has led to radio airplay across the Midlands.

Christine's studio set up includes piano, guitar and a variety of recording equipment, (including microphones, recording software and an extensive library of backing tracks) so that all students can be accompanied and can record their own songs as they progress. Showcases and other opportunities to perform can also be arranged via a local network of contacts, as well as connections with local radio.

Christine provides vocal tuition to individuals with all levels of proficiency, and her studies of the changing voices in children and adolescents means that she is also qualified to coach singers from a young age as well as adults. She teaches from her home studio in Atherstone, Warwickshire, which is easily accessed by the motorway network (M42, M6, and M69) and also provides lessons via Skype where requested.
Christine is CRB checked and holds professional indemnity and public liability insurance with Blyth Valley Insurers.

"Christine quickly showed herself to be an outstanding student when she first came to VIDLA to study the Certificate in Contemporary Vocal Teaching, and achieved the Student of the Year title in 2009. She is now studying the Professonal Diploma in Contemporary Vocal Teaching, and continues to develop her already considerable skills. This lady is undoubtedly a person to whom you can trust your voice!" Ria Keen (VIDLA Principal), April 14, 2010

"Chris is a fantastic teacher with the knack for explaining things so that it all becomes clear. She's incredibly patient, and takes a lot of time and trouble to give constructive, relevant information and feedback on songs and exercises. She has borne my obsession with all things heavy metal with good-humour, and under her expert tutelage I have progressed from a complete, nervous beginner to the lead singer in a band that gigs regularly around the Midlands." Sarah Cochrane, November 23, 2011

"It took me over 10 years to pluck up the courage to have singing lessons. Christine put me at ease straight away and has given me the confidence I lacked. Thanks to Christine I can now do things with my voice that I didn't know were possible! Christine always makes lessons interesting and fun and I would recommend Pitch Perfect Vocal Coaching to anyone." Madeleine Rogers, January 28, 2013

"My first lesson with Christine resulted from a Christmas gift-voucher and choosing 'Pitch Perfect Vocal Coaching' at random from several tutors in the area. I realised that I was going to learn far more about 'singing' and 'my voice' than being told whether or not I was singing in tune! Following that first and subsequent lessons, I have enjoyed learning and continue to do so regularly, especially as Christine shares as much enthusiasm in the latest lesson as she did in the first."
