Debi Doss

Debi Doss is a singer and actress who has sung professionally for over 30 years. She migrated from St. Louis, Missouri to London as a teenager and began her professional career in the mid-70s singing, dancing and acting in concept musicals written by Ray Davies of The Kinks. Debi toured Europe, the UK and the US with The Kinks for 3 1/2 years. She has also toured and recorded with artists such as Hot Chocolate, Kajagoogoo, David Gilmour (of Pink Floyd), Ian Gillan (Deep Purple), Mike Oldfield, Colin Blunstone, Ultravox, Twiggy, Cilla Black, Billy Wyman (The Rhythm Kings), The Pet Shop Boys and was a member of Trevor Horn’s group The Buggles, with the number one hit single and video of ‘Video Killed the Radio Star’.


In 2004, she performed with Trevor Horn in his 25th anniversary concert for the Prince’s Trust and sang again with The Buggles and also with Dollar, The Art of Noise, Propaganda, ABC, Yes, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, The Pet Shop Boys, taTu and Lisa Stansfield. The highlight of the evening was being presented to, and sharing a special moment with, HRH Prince Charles.


Debi is a performer and writer in her own right and has acted in musicals and on film and television, including comedy sketches with Victoria Wood and Julie Walters and Lee Evans. Her work as a session singer includes award winning television commercials and voice-overs.


Having completed a degree in Drama and Music and a PGCE as a mature student, Debi taught drama and singing classes to children, aged 6 to 16 for several years. She is still recording and performing live and, as a Vocal Coach, is passing on her singing skills to others so that they can find enjoyment in singing.

1992 - 1995 BA Hons (Upper 2.1) in Drama and Music at Brunel University College, Twickenham
